In partnership with the Mirdan Institute Orgis develops not-knowing technologies.
When doubt and not-knowing of employees is made visible, the quality and reliability of knowledge within an organisation will increase substantially It becomes clearer which data is reliable and which data is not reliable. The value of identifying doubts and unknowns in data quality is massive.
Orgis is market leader in the development of Open Source not-knowing technologies.
Orgis offers:
- Not-knowing workshops: Introduction of not-knowing technologies and applications.
- Not-knowing analysis. An introduction to the core methodology of making visible unknowns and doubts, followed by collaboratively asses an organisations processes and where not-knowing technology will provide added value
- Not-knowing implementations: consultancy and support during not-knowing project implementations.
This technology is Open Source
Not-knowning technology is suited to those organisations looking for strategic support and those organisations that are looking to increase the quality of their knowledge management systems.
1: Pu not-knowing tool for CiviCRM
The first not-knowing tool is now available on github.
This tool allows users to identify unknowns and doubts regarding a contact record in CiviCRM
As a result of the pu-symbol on the contact record others will be able to identify associated doubts and unknowns.
This increases the data reliability of the CRM.
During busy periods it frequently occurs that an employee has identified a doubt or unknown but is not able to investigate immediately. This tool will enable the employee to identify this element and record the doubt or unknown for later investigation.
To be able to record employee doubts about the data quality is of immense value to any organisation.
2: Office Tools
The not-knowing symbol under a button in MS office of Open Office. Wherever the cursor is a not-knowing symbol can be placed, with automatic sequential number and the ability to add text: What do you not know?
The following possibilities exist to make the not-knowing symbol visible:
- Text clouds in the the text
- Footnote-type table per page
- Footnote-type table per chapter
- Footnote-type tale per document
In this manner you will be able to add not-knowing elements to all documents within an organisation, this creates the ability to create an overview per document of all the not-knowing elements. This requires further training of system users.
3: CRM - Meta data fields
Adding not-knowing meta-data fields to CiviCRM CiviCRM is an Open Source Customer Relationship Management system, which because of its openness is particularly suited for adding plugins which create not-knowing functionality.
For example: At present when looking at a telephone field you only have 2 possibilities, either the number is there or it is not. But a missing number can indicate many things:
- Simply not added (yet)
The contact does not have a telephone
The number is unknown
You dont know IF the contact has a telephone number
A meta data field with practical icons becomes the solution by being able to indicate:
- I dont know the number
- I dont know if she has a number
- I know there is a number but I dont know what it is.
This will then enable you to search for everybody who does not have a telephone number, something which cannot be done without the tool(plugin what is het ?>) Of course the meta data field can be applied to other areas and fields within the CRM, for example when the CRM is used as a sales management tool; has a contact expressed an interest or is this still unknown, this will aid greatly in the qualification process, or in a medial practice it could be used to indicate illness but that the disease is still unknown.
4. Knowledge management systems
Drupal, a Content Management System, which can be used as a knowledge management platform, is also particularly suited for the not-knowing applications. This is done through a combination of the above mentioned Office tools and CRM- meta data fields. In a knowledge management platform, knowledge is mainly shared in a text format as well as structural links between fields this is where the combined logic of the Office tools and the CRM- Meta data fields will be applied.
5: Pu prioritization tool
Unknowns can be made visible using the Pu-prioritization tool, through questioning, you will be able to identify if unknown elements need to be solved, accepted or avoided and associate a priority value with the unknown element.
